Natural Resources
Natural resources have always provided the true meaning of wealth for the Stz置minus people.
The Department of Natural Resources has a mandate to always act with regard to our heritage and cultural values in our traditional territory. We are responsible for the administration of activities and the stewardship of land and water resources within the traditional territories of the Stz置minus people.
We also have a commitment to educating, and learning from, the Stz置minus community. Our ancestors were sustained by resources in our traditional territory.
We have three sections within the department that operate under a manager who is responsible for developing policies as well as planning and carrying out sustainable practices that will benefit our people for generations to come.
We work to build collaborative relationships with government organizations such as the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO), Ministry of Forests (MOF) and partner with others in order that we properly manage our resources while building stewardship capacity within our Nation.
